The Spirit of Aloha Temple Nature Guardians’ Mission Statement
We are a 501(c)3 Spiritual Service Organization. We are a worldwide Spiritual Sangha–O’hana of kindred souls who synergize our missions to accomplish more as a team than we could have individually. We are a new branch of an ancient tradition that is oriented toward inner growth and outer service. We are a 21st century branch of one of the world’s oldest spiritual traditions, the Holy Order of Sannyas.
We see all spiritual traditions of the world as a collective wisdom that is summarized by twelve universal values eloquently expressed as The Spirit of Aloha.
- Mahalo – Gratitude
- Ihi – Respect
- Ma’alhi – Cooperation
- Hauoli – Happiness
- Kuleana – Service
- Maluhia – Peace
- Ha’aha’a – Humility
- Laulima – Simplicity
- Pono – Honesty
- Aloha- Love
- Noa – Freedom
- Lokahi – Unity
We see these 12 values as being summarized by the 6 Pillars offered by Sri Swami Sivananda: Serve, Love, Give, Purify, Meditate, Realize.
We see these 6 pillars distilled into one truth known as The Golden Rule: Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.
Nature Guardians are dedicated to expressing these values in our lives by offering fairness and generosity in all encounters. Nature Guardians practice Nada Yoga rooted in the tree of Ashtanga Yoga as described by the ancient sage Patanjali.
Our Goal is a life that is Joyful, Easeful, Peaceful and Useful. Tada Stu – So it is. Hari Om Tat Sat.
This order was established in the Indus valley of India over five thousand years ago. Within the Sannyas tradition, the Nature Guardian order is a branch of the Saraswati order in the lineage of Sri Swami Sivananda, founder of the Divine Life Society, Rishikesh, India.
This lineage was perpetuated by his disciple, Sri Swami Satchidananda, founder of Integral Yoga International with centers worldwide and headquarters in Virginia. This lineage is being perpetuated by his disciple, Swami Swaroopananda, aka Fredrick Swaroop Honig, founder of The Spirit of Aloha Temple Botanical Gardens & Bird Sanctuary on the north-shore of Maui.
The members of the Nature Guardians’ Order, joyfully choose (or are proactively moving towards) a holistic lifestyle that is free of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, fish, meat, eggs, dairy, genetically modified and processed foods. We embrace organic plant based nutrition and are committed to growing more food than we consume.
Within the Nature Guardian Order, we choose to embrace all of creation as our family rather than choosing to have a personal family and bring forth children into an overpopulated environment. We are cracking a shell of egoism that limits its service to a small circle of friends and family. Without the responsibilities of supporting a personal family, we are free to be of service to nature, our larger family. We are dedicated to living simply, close to nature and to giving abundantly. We sustain thriving organic eco systems with traditional and innovative sustainable horticulture.
Each Nature Guardian claims his or her direct connection to The Unitive Field. We follow our conscience and the Golden Rule. Rather than considering one teacher to be our Guru, we claim our own direct relationship with God as the primary focus of our life experience. Our service to nature is the expression of our service to God, the one Unitive Consciousness of the universe. Nature Guardians embrace the holistic understanding of Unitive Field Theory. We see the universe as one Unitive Field of Consciousness.
